This summer marked the finalization of work utilizing the first SURG grant for the GIVE lab offered by the Worcester State Foundation. After three months of continuous work on paper drafts, biweekly meetings, and reading, Dr.Eagan and Andja speak about their experiences during this productive and exciting time.
This summer’s work focused on several projects. One of them was working on shortening Dr.E’s dissertation into a journal article and selecting the proper peer-reviewed journal that would best be a home for it. Dispersed among several weeks, our duo shortened and edited the sections of the paper, and finalized a polished draft of it. We are planning to send it off for review soon!
Secondly, the lab received first-hand training in qualitative research and thematic analysis. After finishing the first section of five chapters of the book from Virginia Braun and Victoria Clarke, utilizing the notes on the chapters and Dr.E’s experience in the field, they also created an Outline and Training material, which will be used for further training of the new members of the GIVE lab in the future. The Manual is quite easy to follow and contains a language that is technical enough without causing dizziness.
Finally, their work concentrated on polishing the GIVE lab website, by updating its features and adding new blog posts! Let us know how we are doing, and don’t forget to check us out!
